Frequently asked questions

How do Perfect Choice funeral plans work?

The money you pay for your Perfect Choice Funeral Plan is invested by NAFD Services Ltd in a Whole of Life Assurance Policy from Ecclesiastical Life Limited (ELL). ELL is regulated by the Financial Services Authority and all plans are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

The Funeral Plan is regulated by the Funeral Planning Authority and is covered by the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) code of practice, giving you peace of mind.

The Funeral Plan is administered by NAFD Services Ltd.

What happens if I move to another part of the country?

NAFD members perform 80% of funerals in the UK, so you should be able to transfer your plan to an accredited funeral director near to your new home.

What happens if I die abroad?

As the Perfect Choice Funeral Plan does not cover the cost of a funeral outside the UK or the cost of repatriating the deceased, you should ensure that your travel insurance covers these eventualities.

Can I buy a funeral plan for someone else?

Yes; many of our clients do this.

Can I change or cancel my arrangements?

Yes. Simply tell your funeral director about the changes you want. There may of course be an additional cost for these. If you cancel the plan after 14 days from the purchase date, we will refund your money excluding the management fee.

Can I pay by instalments?

Yes, you can pay over a number of set terms from 12 months to 5 years.

Will the Plan cover the entire cost of the funeral?

The plan is guaranteed to cover the funeral director’s costs specified in the purchase agreement. Any money you have paid towards third parties fees such as clergy, doctors and the crematorium will rise in line with movement in the ‘All Items’ UK measure of the Retail Prices Index (RPI). If the cost of these fees rises faster than the RPI, your next of kin or executor will need to pay any shortfall. Please see section 4.4 of the Terms & Conditions for full details. These can be found in 'Our Literature' section.

Who is eligible?

We guarantee to accept anyone aged 18 or over for a Perfect Choice Funeral Plan.
